Sassandra, June 18, 2026 (AIP)—The project manager for the Medical Research Program in Partnership with Northern Countries (PAC-CI), Dr. Komena Auguste, presented an innovative digital tool on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in Sassandra, designed to assist in the management of tuberculosis in children, called “eHealth4Child-TB.”
This tool, currently in the pilot phase, aims to help healthcare professionals overcome the challenges they face in diagnosing and treating the disease. It is based on therapeutic decision-support algorithms (ADT) that enable the rapid detection of tuberculosis cases, with the goal of reducing the number of child deaths.
The tool features a digital X-ray system whose images are analyzed by artificial intelligence. It also includes medical data management software that allows healthcare workers to access essential patient information and ensure better monitoring of their care. According to the project manager, this innovation supports practitioners in their decision-making process following diagnosis, thereby helping to reduce the risk of medical errors.
The project was developed by the Ministry of Health, Public Hygiene, and Universal Health Coverage through the National Tuberculosis Control Program (PNLT). It is being implemented in the health districts of Abengourou, Agboville, and Sassandra. In the Sassandra district, it will be rolled out in seven health facilities over a 48-month period.
The launch ceremony was attended by the deputy coordinator of the National Tuberculosis Control Program, Dr. Sidibé Souleymane, as well as the secretary general of the Sassandra prefecture, Djè Séraphine Adjo, wife of Soro. According to Dr. Sidibé, tuberculosis remains a major public health problem in Côte d’Ivoire. In 2024, 21,833 cases were detected, including 898 among children, representing 4.2% of all reported cases. In addition, 5,524 children received preventive treatment with isoniazid, representing a coverage rate of 41% among children exposed to contagious forms of the disease.
