The meeting began with a scientific update. Several recent publications reinforce our decision to use high-dose oral rifampicin, including oral versus IV administration. Regarding the study’s progress, 218 patients have been enrolled to date, 19 of whom are in the PK substudy. Very few follow-up visits are missing. Deaths occur primarily during the first 3 months. Each country presented the challenges it has faced in terms of recruitment. In South Africa, many patients are classified as Grade 1 because no family members can be located. The South African team has requested authorization to enroll patients without consent. The ANRS has requested a vote from the General Assembly. The protocol has been submitted to Trials.
