Over the course of these two days, doctors, microbiologists, veterinarians, agricultural professionals, environmental specialists, sociologists, and economists took the stage one after another to deliver presentations on a variety of topics related to

Bringing together four countries (France, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, and Morocco), the IPORA (Interdisciplinary Policy-Oriented Research on Africa) consortium is an interdisciplinary research network whose specific objectives are to analyze the multidimensional transformations currently underway in Africa, to identify the issues raised by these transformations—the study of which could help shape public policy—to collaboratively develop interdisciplinary studies to address these issues, and to strengthen research capacity within partner institutions.

The consortium’s activities are organized around three thematic research groups: environmental pollution and health (WP5), food systems (WP6), and demography and demographic shifts (WP7).

At this scientific seminar held from November 12 to 16, 2024, in Grand-Bassam, the IPORA WP6 research team in Côte d’Ivoire aimed to validate the preliminary projects on nutrition and food security to be submitted for funding within the IPORA network, which had been adopted during a previous scientific seminar held from August 20 to 24, 2024.

As a reminder, these are the following projects: “Dietary Behaviors and Their Impact on Metabolic Diseases in the Context of Nutritional Transition in Côte d’Ivoire”; “The Impacts of Sociocultural Constraints on the Nutrition of Children Aged 0 to 5 in Rural and Urban Areas in the Zanzan District of Côte d’Ivoire” and “An Assessment of Socioeconomic and Spatial Inequalities in Nutrition in Côte d’Ivoire. ”

Using a participatory approach, and following the presentation of key topics with constructive exchanges and discussions, participants presented their draft research proposals, reviewed the fully drafted proposals to finalize and validate them, and identified potential research projects for the year 2025.

It should be noted that, in order to share the results of this scientific seminar with the IPORA network, a final report has been prepared and will be distributed in the coming days.
