The PAC-CI Program, in collaboration with the National Tuberculosis Control Program (PNLT), the Ministry of Health, Public Hygiene, and Universal Health Coverage, as well as the University of Bordeaux, participated in the official launch workshop of the eHealth4Child-TB project activities on April 14, 2026, in Abengourou. The event took place at the Les Cocotiers Hotel Complex, with numerous institutional, health, community, and religious stakeholders in attendance.

The eHealth4Child-TB project is set against a backdrop where pediatric tuberculosis remains a significant public health challenge in Côte d'Ivoire. Despite progress in tuberculosis screening and management, difficulties persist in diagnosis, prevention, and treatment for children and adolescents. In 2024, Côte d'Ivoire reported 21,833 cases of tuberculosis, including 898 cases in children, while 5,524 children received isoniazid preventive treatment.

Funded by Expertise France, the eHealth4Child-TB project aims to deploy and evaluate the use of therapeutic decision algorithms supported by digital tools to improve tuberculosis diagnosis in children. Its implementation is planned in 21 healthcare facilities, distributed across three health districts covering three health regions. The project is under the national coordination of Dr. Komena Eric, national project manager.

The launch workshop aimed to present the project's directions, foster the adoption of its objectives by all stakeholders, clarify the roles and responsibilities of various actors, and establish a framework for collaborative implementation.

The event saw the participation of nearly 96 people, including administrative and local authorities, health system officials, representatives from PNLT and PAC-CI, healthcare facility managers, as well as religious leaders, community leaders, youth representatives, women's associations, and civil society organizations.

The day's program featured several key components, including official speeches, a presentation on the situation of pediatric tuberculosis in Côte d'Ivoire, the introduction of the eHealth4Child-TB project, and discussions on the next steps for its implementation.

Through this initiative, the partners reaffirm their shared commitment to strengthening the fight against pediatric tuberculosis in Côte d'Ivoire, through an approach based on innovation, inter-institutional collaboration, and the integration of digital tools in public health strategies.
