Summary & Key Points
"A flexible and efficient organization or business, regardless of the sector, is characterized by its ability to offer services or products that meet the needs of the market or target populations."
A flexible and efficient organization or business, regardless of sector, is defined by its ability to offer services or products that meet market or target population needs. The PAC-CI Programme, whose core business is health research, cannot exempt itself from this management requirement. Indeed, one of its main missions is to carry out research projects to support decision-making and improve population health.
To this end, PAC-CI researchers must identify relevant research topics, write research proposals, and secure funding for implementation.
That is why the PAC-CI Programme’s Scientific Directorate organized a workshop bringing together all 19 of its researchers, including two who participated online. Held on August 12–13, 2024, in Grand-Bassam, the workshop aimed to prepare effective responses to upcoming funding calls.

Working in small groups, participants identified 18 topics, which were narrowed down to three after review. Of the three selected, the first is nearly complete and ready for submission, the second is 70% complete, and the third remains under development due to its complexity and new thematic focus.
The workshop successfully achieved its goals—selecting relevant research topics, identifying potential funders, forming working groups, and drafting proposals—with all objectives met and participants leaving satisfied.
Recommendations were also made: to institutionalize this activity (one to two times per year), prepare submissions for the September 15 call for the finalized project, continue work on unfinished projects, and strengthen ties with health programs to implement certain initiatives.
