Preparation for an effective response to various calls for proposals: the scientific management of the PAC-CI program is organizing a workshop to identify relevant research topics.

Summary & Key Points

"An organization or company that is flexible and effective, regardless of the sector, is characterized by its ability to offer services or products that meet the needs of the market or target populations."

A flexible and effective organization or business, regardless of the sector, is characterized by its ability to offer services or products that meet the needs of the market or target populations. The PAC-CI Program, whose core business is health research, cannot exempt itself from this managerial requirement. Indeed, one of its main missions is to carry out research projects to aid decision-making and improve the health of populations.

To animate the scientific life of PAC-CI, researchers must identify relevant research topics, write research projects, and finally, find funding for their implementation.

Therefore, the scientific management of the PAC-CI Program organized a reflection workshop that brought together all its researchers, totaling 19, with 2 participating online. This meeting, held on August 12 and 13, 2024, in Grand-Bassam, aimed to prepare an effective response to upcoming calls for projects.

Organized into small working groups, the participants identified 18 topics that were subject to arbitration, narrowing them down to three. Of the 3 selected topics, the first is almost written and ready for submission, the second is 70% complete, and the third is still being developed, as it is more complex with a new theme.

This workshop, which allowed the selection of relevant research topics, identification of potential funders, creation of working groups, and production of project drafts, was a resounding success with 100% of objectives achieved and participants leaving satisfied.

Additionally, recommendations were made: to perpetuate such an activity (once or twice a year), to prepare the submission for the September 15 call for the finalized project, to continue work on the unfinished projects, and to revive contacts with health programs to implement certain projects.
