𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐭𝐀-𝐒𝐓𝐇𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭: 𝐮𝐧 𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐞́𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐞́𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐬.

Adolescents living on the streets are a population particularly vulnerable to violence, HIV, and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), while also facing numerous barriers that limit their access to health services. It is in this context that the A-STHreet project was launched – CIPHER 039 project was launched, with the goal of better understanding access to and use of HIV and other STI testing services among adolescents aged 10 to 19 living on the streets in Côte d’Ivoire.

After several months of work conducted in three health districts of Abidjan, the PAC-CI Program organized a workshop on April 20, 2026, to validate the results. This activity, coordinated by Dr. Touré Fraink, a researcher with the PAC-CI Program, marks a major milestone ahead of the official results presentation ceremony scheduled for the coming weeks.

The workshop brought together representatives from national programs, technical partners, nongovernmental organizations, community stakeholders, as well as representatives of adolescents living on the streets and young people living with HIV.

The goal was to share the project’s key findings, discuss their implications, and gather recommendations to strengthen existing policies and interventions.

To encourage participatory discussion, participants were divided into working groups focused on several themes: access to HIV and other STI testing services, the use of these services by adolescents living on the streets, risk behaviors and prevention, and the inclusion of these adolescents in public health policies. 

Through this approach, the A-STHreet project reaffirms its goal: to generate useful scientific data, contribute to strengthening strategies for the prevention of HIV and other STIs, and improve access to health services for the most vulnerable adolescent populations.
