Sassandra, June 18, 2026 (AIP) – Dr. Komena Auguste, Project Manager at the Côte d’Ivoire-North Partnership Medical Research Program (PAC-CI), presented on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in Sassandra an innovative digital tool to support the management of tuberculosis in children, called “eHealth4Child-TB.”

This tool, currently in the pilot phase, aims to help health professionals overcome challenges in diagnosing and managing the disease. It is based on therapeutic decision support algorithms (DSA) that enable rapid detection of tuberculosis cases to reduce the number of deaths among children.

The tool features a digital radiography system whose images are analyzed by artificial intelligence. It also includes medical data management software that allows health workers to access essential patient information and ensure better follow-up of their care. According to the project manager, this innovation supports practitioners in their decision-making process after diagnosis, thereby reducing the risk of medical errors.

The project was developed by the Ministry of Health, Public Hygiene, and Universal Health Coverage through the National Tuberculosis Control Program (PNLT). It is being implemented in the health districts of Abengourou, Agboville, and Sassandra. In the latter district, it will be deployed in seven health facilities over a 48-month period.

The launch ceremony was attended by Dr. Sidibé Souleymane, Deputy Coordinator of the National Tuberculosis Control Program, and Djè Séraphine Adjo épouse Soro, Secretary General of the Sassandra Prefecture. According to Dr. Sidibé, tuberculosis remains a major public health issue in Côte d’Ivoire. In 2024, 21,833 cases were detected, including 898 in children, representing 4.2% of all reported cases. Additionally, 5,524 children received preventive isoniazid treatment, achieving a coverage rate of 41% among children exposed to contagious forms of the disease.
