DengueCARE: Strengthening Collaboration for Integrated Dengue Control

Summary & Key Points

"From August 4 to 6, 2026, in Grand-Bassam, the PAC-CI Program organized the first workshop to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in the fight against dengue as part of the activities of the DengueCARE project."

From August 4 to 6, 2026, in Grand-Bassam, the PAC-CI Programme organized the first workshop to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in the fight against dengue as part of the DengueCARE project activities.

Led by Dr. Badjé Anani, Principal Investigator, and Dr. Abo Yao, Project Leader, the meeting brought together 33 participants representing 20 institutions from the health, research, environment, climate, local governments, community health, and technical and financial partner sectors.

The workshop aimed to lay the groundwork for effective collaboration among actors involved in the response to dengue and other arboviruses in Côte d’Ivoire. It aligns with the objectives of the DengueCARE project to promote an integrated, sustainable, and multisectoral approach to combating dengue in the context of climate change.

The work began with presentations by the various institutions engaged in the fight against dengue and other arboviruses. These presentations allowed for sharing existing initiatives, identifying key challenges and needs of stakeholders, and discussing collaboration modalities.

The workshop then continued with group work on the following five themes:

  • integrated dengue-climate-vector surveillance;
  • vector control and climate resilience;
  • community engagement and communication;
  • research and knowledge production;
  • governance and operation of the DengueCARE collaborative platform.

At the end of the discussions, participants adopted a preliminary roadmap and defined the operational modalities of the future platform. This platform is expected to strengthen national coordination among the various actors and contribute to a more effective response to dengue outbreaks in the context of climate change.

A platform to bring together expertise

The workshop marks the first step in establishing the DengueCARE collaborative platform, designed to foster networking among actors and the sharing of knowledge and expertise.

Through this initiative, PAC-CI and its partners will continue their commitment to collaborative research and a coordinated response to the challenges posed by dengue in Côte d’Ivoire.
