An evaluation primarily and above all serves to measure the gaps between a project and its implementation. This is its essential and primary objective. However, it also serves to prepare for the future and upcoming actions. To best evaluate the impact of the PROXISANTE project on the beneficiary populations, preliminary preparation with all stakeholders is necessary.
It is in this context that a team from the PAC-CI Program, led by Dr. Komena Auguste Eric, Acting Manager of the PROXISANTE Project, stayed in the department of Toumodi from September 11 to 13, 2024, to verify the availability and compliance of procedural documents and to exchange with the target populations.
This field mission took place in three stages: first, courtesies to the Departmental Director of Health, a presentation of the mission, and a first working session aimed at developing the plan for visits to the sites on the one hand, and on the other hand, designing the message intended for Community Health Agents (ASC) so that they can best prepare the sites and the beneficiary patients of the project.
Then, a second working session took place with the managers of the EPE NGO. This was an opportunity for the actors to review the various activity reports and difficulties encountered during the project's implementation, to evaluate the solutions brought to these difficulties, and to list recommendations addressed to the PAC-CI Program.
Finally, the mission concluded with a visit to the doctors and working sessions with the ASC of the Kokoumbo and Kpouebo CSU. More specifically, these meetings focused on evaluating the household counting process, data collection and management, group discussion facilitation, technical assistance provided by the supervising nurses, the health district, the PAC-CI Program, and the various national programs, and the difficulties encountered during the project.
As a reminder, the main objective of the PROXISANTE project is to develop and implement strategies aimed at improving the integration of HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis prevention and care into the community health system through ASC.
