After two (2) years of activities, the sites of the FISSA (Fever In Sub Saharan Africa) study have completed the inclusion and follow-up of participants. The FISSA Study, conducted as part of the ALERRT (African coaLition for Epidemic Research Response and Training) Consortium, aimed to describe the epidemiology, clinical aspects, and management of febrile illnesses in sub-Saharan Africa. The teams from the regional and international coordinations of FISSA visited the sites to close them down.

From June 13 to 18, 2022, these visits aimed to verify and archive the study's essential documents, check all consent forms, verify corrections to the latest queries sent to the sites, and gather feedback from the teams to improve the implementation of any potential future studies. This mission was carried out by Mrs. Suzanne Kouadio, also known as Aunt Suze (Regional Clinical Research Assistant), Dr. Kouamé Menan Gérard (International Project Manager), and Dr. Anani Badjé (ALERRT WP1 Coordinator).
The first step in this series of closures took place at the Saint Francis Xavier Hospital site in Assin Fosu, approximately 2 hours from Kumasi. This site is supervised by KCCR (Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research), a partner of the ALERRT Consortium.
