The PAC-CI Programme, in collaboration with the National Tuberculosis Control Programme (PNLT), the Ministry of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage, and the University of Bordeaux, participated on April 14, 2026, in Abengourou, in the official launch workshop for the activities of the eHealth4Child-TB project. The meeting was held at the Hôtel Les Cocotiers Complex, in the presence of numerous institutional, health, community, and religious stakeholders.

The eHealth4Child-TB project is being implemented in a context where pediatric tuberculosis remains a major public health challenge in Côte d’Ivoire. Despite progress in the screening and management of tuberculosis, challenges persist in diagnosis, prevention, and treatment among children and adolescents. In 2024, Côte d’Ivoire reported 21,833 cases of tuberculosis, including 898 cases in children, while 5,524 children received preventive isoniazid treatment.

Funded by Expertise France, the eHealth4Child-TB project aims to deploy and evaluate the use of therapeutic decision algorithms supported by digital tools to improve the diagnosis of tuberculosis in children. Its implementation is planned in 21 health facilities, distributed across three health districts covering three health regions. The project is coordinated nationally by Dr. Komena Eric, National Project Manager.

The launch workshop aimed to present the project’s objectives, promote ownership of its goals among all stakeholders, clarify the roles and responsibilities of the various actors, and establish a framework for coordinated collaboration for its implementation.

The meeting brought together nearly 96 participants, including administrative and local authorities, health system officials, representatives from the PNLT and PAC-CI, health facility managers, as well as religious leaders, community leaders, youth representatives, women’s associations, and civil society organizations.

The day’s program featured several key sessions, including official speeches, a presentation on the status of pediatric tuberculosis in Côte d’Ivoire, an overview of the eHealth4Child-TB project, and discussions on the next steps for its implementation.

Through this initiative, partners reaffirm their shared commitment to strengthening the fight against pediatric tuberculosis in Côte d’Ivoire through an approach based on innovation, inter-institutional collaboration, and the integration of digital tools into public health strategies.
